The Project Brief
Rotherham Doncaster and South Humber NHS Foundation Trust (RDaSH) operates services in 200 locations across Rotherham, Doncaster and North Lincolnshire. It provides a range of inpatient and community mental health, learning disability and addiction services for adult, young people and children.
At one facility the trust had an issue with swelling doors situated on a ward. This prevented them from closing properly which caused concerns for privacy, security and safety. As continuous improvement of service quality is a primary goal, the Trust was keen to find a solution that was cost effective yet swiftly solved the problem.
The Solution
The solution offered by Intastop was to fully clad the door in its high quality anti-bacterial impact protection sheet which prevents water absorption and protects from damage. The trust also wanted to ensure the door had full anti- ligature protection so they chose the Door Top alarm which provides assistance aid to ward staff, by detecting a ligature attempt on the top of the door and the new SECURAHingeTM. This full length continuous geared hinge with anti-ligature tip vastly improves safety and minimises ligature risk thanks to a number of design features such as the tapered tip and smooth pivots.
Overall a total door protection and prevention solution was provided to RDaSH within the given time frame.
