Products Used:
- 1200 Combi-Handrail
Client: G D Smy
Installer: Intastop
The Project Brief:
As part of an ongoing programme of works contractors G.D. Smy chose Intastop to supply and install combination handrails. The challenge was to install the handrails to long corridor lengths with parts projecting across large window areas.
Queen Mary’s is a live hospital and therefore it was essential that all works were completed with minimal disruption to staff, patients and visitors.
Solution:
The 1200 combined handrail was chosen as it provides effective pedestrian guidance and resting support, particularly beneficial for the elderly, infirm, and disabled. Combi-Rails, featuring a larger surface area than standard handrails, are also specifically engineered to shield against impacts caused by wheeled traffic.
Additionally, the 1200 handrail features a textured finish to disguise damage effects, while the handrail boasts a smooth finish meeting the requirements of HBN 00-04.
Key Considerations:
- Considerate and timely installation due to live hospital environment.
- Large window expansions.
