To support this year’s Fire Door Safety Week, Intastop will be holding a free event in their Training Centre in Doncaster to raise awareness of the critical role of fire doors, drawing attention to specific issues such as poor maintenance.

Alongside presentations from Intastop’s Key Accounts Manager John Angel, there will be two guest speakers.  Karen Byard, Maintenance & Fire Safety Manager at Bradford District Care NHS Foundation Trust will be discussing fire doors and evacuation in a Mental Health / Community Trust, while Mark Williams of Checkmate Fire will be speaking about fire compartmentalisation.

Karen Byard is a Maintenance and Fire Safety Manager for Bradford District Care NHS Trust. Karen is responsible for fire safety at all of the Trust owned or leased buildings ensuring safety of building users and prevention of any issues is top priority.

With over 7 years’ NHS experience Karen brings to the table a wealth of knowledge supported by her Master’s Degree in Healthcare Fire Safety, NEBOSH Health and Safety and Fire Safety and she is also an Authorising Engineer for Fire plus a member of NAHFO.

Karen often talks at high profile Fire Safety events and is a regular speaker at Fire Door Safety Week.

At Intastop’s Fire Safety seminar Karen will be advising delegates on ensuring all compliance issues are evidenced. ‘Closing the loop’ key to successful fire safety management. As well as highlighting any issue-rectifying problems or minimising effective –evidencing.

Mark Williams is the Chief Executive Officer of Checkmate, a company dedicated to providing fire compliant services to a national client base.

Mark began his career as a Technical Sales person for the provision of passive fire products to industry. He then went on to be Contracts Manager at Checkmate, then MD and following a management buyout is now CEO. Mark is responsible for all the company’s operations on a national basis and works with the senior management team on building the company’s growth strategy.

With over 17 years’ experience Mark has an enviable amount of knowledge in passive fire protection. The foundations on which Mark has developed Checkmate is through a culture of assist, support and deliver high quality compliant installations to customers where life safety and business continuity is paramount.

Mark often talks at industry leading events about Fire Safety Compliance and is an active member of a number of organisations including the ASFP (Association for Specialist Fire Protection), FPA (Fire Protection Association) and his company Checkmate was a founding member of the BRE/LPCB passive fire protection certification scheme.

At the Intastop seminar Mark will highlight the importance of seeking information from reputable fire protection service companies and what questions to ask and why.

The event will be held on Monday 25th September 2017, starting with a free lunch at 12.00pm.  Free car parking is available but for those wishing to travel by train, Doncaster station is situated just 5 minutes from Intastop’s training centre so we can arrange for you to be collected if required.
