The Project Brief
The Harbour is a new state-of-the-art 154 bed mental health facility near Blackpool. Its ethos is to provide therapeutic care which is empowering, person centred and needs led and focusses on promoting recovery and independence.
With that in mind and following a safety by design practice the Trust wanted to commission products that would provide ultimate patient safety and comfort.
The Solution
Intastop was chosen to provide a complete door solution that included its unique Door Top Alarm which helps to prevent suicide whilst retaining patient privacy and comfort. Its new SECURA Hinge, a full length continuous geared hinge, designed to minimise ligature risk by featuring a tapered or domed tip and smooth geared leaves. The Intastop Double Swing Hinge was also commissioned to allow doors, particularly those in high usage areas, to swing through 180 degrees which provides quick and easy opening whilst reducing maintenance costs.
To complete the solution the Intastop Removable Stop was used to help eliminate barricade situations. The Removable Door Stop ensures quick emergency outward opening operation of doors that would normally open inwards.
